I WANT TO REMEMBER MARTIN LUTHER KING

1968: Martin Luther King shot deadThe American black civil rights leader, Dr Martin Luther King, has been assassinated.




Dr King was shot dead in the southern US city of Memphis, Tennessee, where he was to lead a march of sanitation workers protesting against low wages and poor working conditions.
He was shot in the neck as he stood on a hotel balcony and died in hospital soon afterwards.




While, King is primarily remembered as one of the leading figures in the civil rights movement in this country, he was also one of the country’s most prominent opponents of the Vietnam War and a staunch critic of overall U.S. foreign policy.


Questa mattina nel notiziario in TV è stato ricordato Martin Luther king.




domani 4 aprile ricorre la data della sua morte, avvenuta 40 anni fa tramite assassinio. Era un personaggio troppo scomodo per l'epoca, e l'unico modo per farlo stare zitto è stato quello di sopprimerlo.









Chi non ricorda quel suo famoso discorso:" I have a Dream today!...." Mi commuove tutte le volte che lo sento e penso che a tutt'oggi quel sogno non si è ancora completamente realizzato.

ecco le sue parole:

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..."

traduzione:

Ho un sogno, che un giorno questa nazione si sollevi e viva pienamente il vero significato del suo credo: "Riteniamo queste verità di per se stesse evidenti: che tutti gli uomini sono stati creati uguali."
